Christo Doherty is Associate Professor and Deputy Head Innovation at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, where he leads the postgraduate programme in Arts & Science. His research and creative practice operate at the intersections of art, technology, and conflict, focusing on the visual and media representations of militarization, surveillance, and trauma in contemporary society. He has exhibited and published internationally, combining documentary strategies, critical theory, and experimental media to interrogate the aesthetic and political dimensions of warfare and security in post-apartheid and global contexts. Doherty is also active in practice-based research supervision and has contributed to the development of interdisciplinary art-science collaborations within the South African and international research landscape.
